There is probably no place in the world with such high density of craftsmen and artisans as in Bali. You name it and you can find it here, stone- and woodcarving, silver and gold smiths, basket-weavers, textile, paintings, etc. Shopping for art, artifact and crafts is supposed to be fun and Bali is one of the best places in the world to find something beautiful for your self or somebody that you love.
The first thing you should realize in that it is hardly worthwhile to travel up into some mountain village to buy a single object, when you see this as a form of adventure. For the visitor on a limited schedule, a visit to one of the several galleries specializing in high quality traditional and antique arts is probably the best idea.
